Happy Birthday Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, sorry that character you hate is what you’re known for.

Sherlock was a burden then because readers couldn’t cope with his death and he had to re-write him back into the weekly paper supplement he was published in. He felt like he had to satisfy readers without the character ever developing. He was trapped with him in many ways. But still, he would be happy with Steve Moffatt and Mark Gatiss’ version. Who wouldn’t!? September will be a good month for Moffatt.
